January 21 - February 04, 2018 ( 14 nts )
Orientation Dinner : 19.00 Sunday January 21, 2018

Based at a secluded, ocean sunset Ayurvedic retreat, this is an ideal opportunity to refresh, rejuvenate and recreate - a time to connect with your inner Shakti, the boundless energy within.

Under the expert guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner and Yoga teacher, and with excellent massage facilities on site, the session will begin by stretching out and relaxing tensed up bodies and souls. With daily yoga, the cleansing qualities of the Ayurvedic cuisine and a relaxed five day introduction into the basics of Ayurvedic medicine and its connection with the wider Vedic system, the shakti should begin to spark into life.

Veda’ means knowledge, the knowledge of our own inner nature. Ayurveda itself means knowledge of a healthy life, part of the wider Vedic system underpinning Indian spiritual culture. One can approach this either through a more contemplative Retreat based inner journey or through a variety of side trips into 'Real India' - a visit to Amma's world famous ashram is possible, perhaps lunch one day floating down Kerala’s famous backwaters, calling at an elephant sanctuary or simply paying respects to the local temple at Varkala, to age old rituals conducted on the seashore by local priests.

The cafes, restaurants and travellers' meeting places of Varkala are within easy reach of the Ayurvedic centre. There's a local Katha Kali theatre, a plethora of shops and the main beach at Varkala is always entertaining.

The Ayurvedic Medical System. 'Ayus’ means longevity and ‘Veda’ means knowledge, so Ayurveda is the ‘Knowledge of Life’ or ‘Science of Life’. The Ayurvedic Forum in the first week is an opportunity to look more closely at the traditional medical system of India and the profound way that it looks at health and the human body. That leads directly to The Vedas themselves, which are an ancient system of knowledge that examine the connection between the universal and the physical and offer deep, potentially life changing insights into the nature of existence. The session should be stimulating, refreshing and deeply relaxing.
